On August 21, WSS 2022 "MEMS and Intelligent Sensors--Advanced Technology Session" was held successfully at the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. The forum was organized by the Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Henan Province and the MEMS & NMES Branch of China Instrument and Control Society (CIS), and co-organized by the Administrative Committee of Zhengzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, the Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and Hanwei Electronics Group Corporation. Han Yun, General Manager of the IoT Industry Research Center, CCID Consulting, made a presentation entitled 2021 Research Report on China's Ten Key Gas Sensor Manufacturers. He analyzed the development and current status of China's gas sensor industry from four perspectives: the overall situation and strategic position of sensors, the market scale and product structure of sensors, the current status and main applications of gas sensors, and the analysis of China's ten key gas sensor manufacturers, made suggestions on the future development of relevant fields and looked into their future.

Wang Yuelin, Research Fellow of the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), made a keynote presentation entitled Seizing the Opportunity to Promote the Industrialization of MEMS Sensors. He mentioned that major powers were banning China in the whole chip industry chain, including OEM, and sensors were a risk of international supply chain disruption as basic chips for information perception. Through an analysis, he considered the change actually an unprecedented opportunity for Chinese sensors. He analyzed China's MEMS sensor manufacturing and the features of Chinese MEMS sensors, calling for efforts to promote the industrialization of MEMS sensors by building a MEMS sensor industry chain, leveraging local advantages and starting from customization.

Gu Ruiqin, Executive Deputy General Manager of Zhengzhou Winsen Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. (Winsen), made a keynote presentation entitled Research on MEMS Gas Sensing and Design. Starting from the current status of MEMS gas sensors and application cases of advanced sensing technologies, she analyzed the facts and future development of MEMS gas sensors from an engineering perspective. In addition, with the materials, structures and performance of sensors as penetrating points, we should research products with higher performance and integration based on top-down system-level design and bottom-up modular design, to greatly meet diverse application needs.

Chengkuo Lee, Professor of National University of Singapore (NUS), made a keynote presentation entitled Advances in Nanophotonic Gas Sensors and Artificial Intelligence Enhanced Sensing Technologies. Via video link, he shared the latest advances in MIR nanophotonics-based gas sensors. He mentioned that flexible and wearable sensors enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI) could enable the analytical function, and such AI-assisted systems could realize higher-level intelligence for a wide range of smart home applications such as advanced identification, man-machine interface and personalized healthcare, emphasizing their wide application scope.

Chen Xuejie, Architect of Manufacturing Solutions at Amazon Web Services (AWS), made a keynote presentation entitled AWS Application in AI/IoT. He noted that cloud computing had accelerated the application of AI/IoT in various industries. Whether in the status monitoring, abnormality detection and predictive maintenance of key equipment or in the application of digital twin or computer vision in industry, cloud computing can quickly enable AI/IoT services for industrial enterprises. At last, he shared a typical case of AWS application in AI/IoT.

Prof. Sun Lining, Foreign Member of RAE and Dean of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Soochow University, made a keynote presentation entitled Micro/Nano Sensing Boosts Intelligent Manufacturing. He mentioned that as the important basis and core of intelligent equipment and products, intellisense could promote the innovative development of intelligent manufacturing. Sun introduced the current status and trend of micro/nano sensing, as well as its application in fields such as robotics, intelligent manufacturing and smart life. With focus on the key problems arising in the development of China's micro/nano manufacturing and intelligent sensing industry, he made suggestions and pointed the direction for the development of the industry. He noted that the rapid development and integration of technologies such as AI, big data, industrial Internet, robotics and intelligent manufacturing had become a strong driver for the development of the digital economy and advanced manufacturing. He also referred to micro/nano devices and systems as the core technology of intelligent manufacturing and smart life. In view of the current bottleneck problems arising in the development of MEMS, he underlined the importance of strengthening basic and innovative research and building industrial manufacturing platforms. His presentation was coherent, comprehensive and clear.

The success of the forum is conducive to breaking technical bottlenecks and institutional constraints for relevant industries, enhancing the core competitiveness of China's MEMS and intelligent sensor industry, and promoting the strategic combination of enterprises, universities and research institutes, thus deepening cooperation between academia and enterprises, promoting the transformation of basic research findings, establishing and improving China's sensor innovation system. It is of great significance to and has a broad application prospect for the development of MEMS and nano technologies, especially the technical development of new intelligent micro/nano devices and systems represented by micro/nano devices in such aspects as discipline crossover, innovation and frontier research, international exchange and industrialization.
